Well, I’ve pretty much decided on the 20 essays that I’m going to try to get published in my book, Random Ramblings of an Astrological Autodidact. Upon the recommendation of my colleague, Virginia Bell, I have contacted the editorial staff at Red Wheel Weiser, as I think that the subject material might intrigue them in that I’ve written about a number of famous people. I’m also looking into self-publishing, although I would like the production to be more professional.
I’ve also started a couple of new essays … I was listening to The Jethro Tull Christmas album on Christmas Day, and decided I wanted to write something about Ian Anderson, another teenage musical inspiration, particularly relating to his documented vocal problems in midlife.
Another topic of interest that has emerged is that of an early 20th century Hungarian novelist, Frigyes Karinthy, who wrote a fascinating memoir that I picked up downtown about his experiences with a benign brain tumor. I’ve decided to make a medical study around that.
In the meantime, I’ve also completed the article on Herman Melville, which has turned out quite well, I think …
