For a little more than a year now, I have been able to connect with a couple of my astro-colleagues and discuss astrology, among other topics, on podcasts (it has been suggested that I start one of my own, but thus far, I’ve manifested a certain inertia concerning the same; although I did invent a name, “Occam’s Electric Shaver”).
The first, called “Jupiter Rising,” is hosted by an excellent astrologer from the Seattle area, Eileen Grimes; Eileen is the author of a superb book on the Titanic tragedy, Titanic Astrology, which I read a few years back. Our mutual colleague, Virginia Bell, who was instrumental in getting me to another colleague, Ronnie Grishman, editor at the late lamented Dell Horoscope (who subsequently published two of my essays), likewise recommended me to Eileen. Although it took a little time for us to connect, after an initial discussion of the horoscope of Luciano Pavarotti, Eileen decided she would like to have me as a regular guest. Among the composers we’ve highlighted are Mozart, Wagner, Schumann, Hugo Wolf, Debussy and Ravel. This Saturday, 12/4, we’ll be examining the map of Russian composer, Igor Stravinsky.
The other podcast, “The Path of Socrates”, is hosted by an American colleague, David Bolton, originally from Baltimore, who has lived in Tokyo for quite some time; David is a keen amateur musician, who periodically records obscure harpsichord pieces, and possesses a keen and inquiring intellect. We met online through Facebook, and have now discussed a wide range of topics, both political and astrological. Most recently, we chatted about Chiron, as David, who is a bit more of a traditionalist than me, had not found much to invite consideration of Chiron in natal horoscopes and transit activity.
